Crew Leader – Garden Installation & Field Operations

Full-Time | JuliaGarden Design

Position Summary

The Crew Leader is a hands-on field leader responsible for installing high-quality, plant-forward gardens while guiding a crew with clarity, consistency, and care. This role thrives in a structured, communicative work environment and works closely with the Design and Project Management teams to deliver gardens that meet JuliaGarden Design’s horticultural and ecological standards.

Who You Are

You are someone who succeeds within structure, process, and clear expectations—and understands that strong gardens come from strong systems.

You thrive in an environment with regular meetings, daily huddles, trainings, and feedback loops, and you use these touchpoints to stay aligned, prepared, and accountable.

You bring:

  • A sharp eye for detail—from plant spacing and soil prep to job-site organization and finish quality

  • Care and intention around watering practices, understanding that water delivery is critical to plant establishment and long-term success

  • Pride in maintaining a clean, organized vehicle, tools, and equipment, knowing that order supports safety, efficiency, and professionalism

  • Curiosity and openness to learning an expanded plant palette, including native and ecological plants that require gentler handling, different planting techniques, and thoughtful aftercare

  • An understanding that site conditions vary—soil type, compaction, drainage, exposure, salt, and disturbance history—and that different conditions require different site preparation and installation approaches

  • Willingness to unlearn “one-size-fits-all” practices and adapt methods to support healthy, resilient plant communities

You are calm, observant, and steady on site. You take direction well, communicate clearly, and are comfortable both leading and learning. You care deeply about doing things the right way, not just the fast way.
